On 17 March 2022, the Ambassador of Tanzania to Germany, Dr. Abdallah Possi paid a working visit to the Czech Republic. This was a working visit aimed at improving relations between the Czech Republic and Tanzania. During the visit, he managed to hold three meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Health, as well as Ministry of Education.
In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Possi met and held talks with the Deputy Minister of the Ministry, Mr. Miloslav Stašek, where they talked about the possibility of Tanzanians benefiting from the Scholarship Opportunity Program that is coordinated by the Ministry. Currently, the African countries that are beneficiaries of the program are Zambia and Ethiopia. Also, Mr. Stašek handed over to Ambassador Dr. Possi an invitation of Hon. Liberata Mulamula (MP), Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation to visit the Czech Republic.
In the Ministry of Health, Ambassador Dr. Possi had the opportunity to meet the Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Jakub Dvořáček, where they talked about cooperation in the Health sector, especially in kidney and cardiovascular diseases. The Government of the Czech Republic has also indicated its willingness to support Tanzania with doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Detailed information on the support will be submitted to the Embassy.
In the Ministry of Education, Ambassador Dr. Possi met with the Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Prof. Jaroslav Miller, and discussed cooperation between universities, and how Tanzanian students who halted their studies in Ukraine can be easily facilitated to transfer their credits and complete their studies in Czech Universities. Hon. Prof. Miller told Ambassador Dr. Possi that they will start with the initial process of notifying Czech Universities and also give priority to Tanzanian students, while other technical procedures follow. Also, a list of students who were studying in Ukraine was handed over to the Deputy Minister for easy reference, and he said an advertisement would be posted on the Study in Czech Republik website to encourage Tanzanian students who were receiving their education in Ukraine to apply to universities in the Czech Republic.
