October 30 to November 1, 2023, H.E.  Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, made a working visit to Tanzania. Apart from maintaining diplomatic relations and developing cooperation between Tanzania and Germany, the visit also focused on promoting and strengthening the foundations of trade and investment between the two countries. President Steinmeier's delegation included other government officials and investors from 12 large companies.
While in Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Steinmeier had an official conversation with his host, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania at State House in Dar es Salaam, on October 31, 2023. After the talks, the leaders had the opportunity to talk to journalists to explain the important issues reached during their talks, where the leaders expressed their intentions and sincere efforts in promoting cooperation in trade and investment, especially the digital economy and renewable energy.
The presidents also had the opportunity to participate in the Business Forum, involving business personnel and investors of the two countries, which was organized by the German Embassy in collaboration with the Tanzania Investment Center (TIC) at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Among other things, the leaders received the information discussed by the Forum. Also, President Steinmeier visited the Twiga Cement factory located in Tegeta in Dar es Salaam and was able to observe various cement production activities carried out by the factory.
On November 1, 2023, His Excellency President Steinmeier traveled to Songea district in Ruvuma region to visit the Water War Museum and Water Primary School. When he visited the Museum of Maji Maji War in Songea Region Ruvuma, President Steinmeier informed that the German government had promised to cooperate with the government of Tanzania to improve the Maji Maji museum to preserve accurate memories for this time and for future generations. He also added that Germany is ready to analyze and process the history of the Maji Maji war because what happened in the past should not be forgotten by anyone.
Tanzania and Germany have had good diplomatic relations that have lasted for more than 60 years. These two countries have been collaborating on various strategic sectors, especially trade and investment, water, health, gender equality, women's empowerment, biodiversity conservation, management of finance, tourism, heritage, and culture
